PortaPow 2W Solar Charger

This is a solar panel which can charge most portable electronics, including battery packs from PortaPow and other manufacturers. It features a powerful 2 Watt solar panel to produce approximately double the power of rival portable panels, and has a USB output socket for the widest compatibility. The pack features a simple folding design with a velcro fastener for storage.
It is compatible with our cables and interchangeable tips. A cable together with mini and micro USB connectors is included.

Although the panel can charge most devices directly, the pack can be bought together with our PortaPow battery pack so you can store energy until its needed, and charge your gadgets at full speed when you need to. You can also charge the battery pack from the panel and your gadget from the battery pack simultaneously (feature not available with PortaPow Premium Battery). If you already have a battery pack which charges from a USB socket, then you can use this instead of buying our pack.

Which devices does it charge?

Since the panel features a USB socket, it can charge the thousands of devices which charge over USB. the panel also has a cable which is compatible with our interchangeable tips to extend the range of devices even further, allowing you to power many phones, PDAs, digital cameras, GPS navigators and mp3/video players. Note: Apple products, tablets and other high-power devices will not charge directly from the panel and must instead be charged through a battery pack.

How powerful is the solar panel?

Our panel uses a large 2 Watt (5V x 400mA) monocrystalline panel. This is the most energy dense form of panel, and gives more power for the same area compared to poly/multi crystalline panels.

By using a larger monocrystalline panel, PortaPow can charge your devices 2-3x faster than rival products. Note, solar panels will only achieve the stated power in ideal circumstances, and will only output a fraction of the power if it is cloudy, the panel is inside a window, or if the panel is not directly facing the Sun. To use solar power in a country with low solar intensity such as the UK, you will need a more powerful panel, such as our 5W Solar Charger. 

How do I get the best from my solar panel?

Solar panels work best in direct sunlight, as a general guide the hotter the sun feels on your skin the better the panel will work. You should also angle the panel towards the Sun, not facing straight up at the sky.
