This is a battery pack which uses a 4400mAh battery to power your portable gadgets and charge them at the same time. It can be plugged into the power socket just like a normal power adaptor. This pack would be suitable for for dramatically increasing runtime when away from a power source.
Use the USB cable supplied to charge the battery pack from a USB socket as found on computers, iPod/iPhone/iPad chargers, or our mains, car and solar USB chargers. The pack can also be charged from the wall charger supplied with modern smartphones from Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, Nokia and so on. Then when your device is running low on battery, connect it to the battery pack using the cable supplied, push the button to activate the pack and charge it up where ever you are. Your device (including satnavs such as the Garmin Edge) can still be used as normal during charging.
It can fully charge a typical smartphone such as an iPhone twice. The pack includes an 18 month performance guarantee. Within 18 months if you feel the battery is no longer holding 80% of the capacity compared to when it was new, you can return it to us for retesting. We will compare it to a new pack and replace yours if it is underperforming.
Since the pack features USB sockets, it can charge the thousands of devices which charge over USB. Also included is a 24 AWG 100cm cable supplied with three connectors (mini USB, micro USB, Apple) to extends the range of devices even further, allowing you to power many phones, PDAs, digital cameras, GPS navigators and mp3/video players.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab / Note 10.1 will not charge from standard USB sockets - use this adaptor to solve the issue

I needed a battery to work with my raspberry pi as an emergency power supply. As soon as the main power goes out, this battery kicks in, and the raspi stays on! It also has an impressive capacity, 8 hours of autonomy for my raspberry. I guess that this battery would be great for smartphones too.

I use this power pack to charge my smartphone twice and Garmin Forerunner twice on a recent weekend away. Device is well made and durable.
I had an after-sales question about attaching a device that doesn't draw much current; this question was answered promptly and courteously.
The issue was I cannot top-up my Exposure Trace lights as they demand <50mA and this power pack turns off. That's a small limitation and these lights do charge if they are low as the current demand goes up.

Just tested the 4400mAh (16.3Whr) Lithium-ion battery pack from Portapow on my Garmin VIRB. When using the maximum SanDisk 64GB microSDXC UHS-I (class10) card on the Economy HD setting of 1280×720/30fps (16:9) it gave the standard 2000mAh (7.4Whr) battery 3.25 hr an extra 6.5hrs of charge so you can now get 10 hrs of quality HD video footage. I have my VIRB mounted on the standard Garmin VIRB handlebar mount connected using a standard 40cm USB Micro cable to the Portapow in a Deuter gel bag and there's still room for 5 gel packs.

Haven't had Portapow long so can't testify to it's durability yet.
But am very pleased I can use it with iPhone, Garmin Forerunner and my GPS (Adventurer 3500). Bought it in preparation for doing 50 and 100 mile events - bring it on!

Excellent piece of kit. Provides an excellent back-up battery for phone or sat nav. Can be set up as a cache battery i.e., charging at the same time as it powers the phone etc. Particularly useful for modern smartphones etc. that require a steady 5v to charge. Not yet used on a long trip but looks a solid piece of engineering and far better than any much more expensive alternatives. Plus, when I contacted sales with a pre-purchase query they answered the same day.

I'm using this battery pack in a situation where I am able to simultaneously power a device (Sony Xperia Z mobile phone) while charging the PortaPow USB Battery Pack (bicycle hub generator). This effectively allows the PortaPow USB Battery Pack to act as a power cache ensuring continuous power to the connected device, while accepting intermittent power to charge itself.
Out of several makes of battery packs where I've tried to do this, this is the only battery pack I've found to have this capability.
So far the only issue I've encountered, and I'm not sure yet where the blame lies, but sometimes I have to press the power button on the Battery Pack to start powering/charging the connected device, other times that happens automatically as it should.

This portable power device is better than some 4 times the price. Ive just taken it to France and back, charging both my garmin and iphone 5 during the trip - it was fantastic.
Comes with adaptors for all popular devices so you are never stuck - I really cant recommend highly enough. Always handy to have one around as you never know when you might need a boost!

The PortaPow USB battery pack is compact and well made. Charges my gadgets when I'm camping out for the weekend. It can be recharged from the cars USB supply and comes with two cables with mini and micro USB adaptors.

For years, on daytrips away from chargers, I have had to stop using my phone long before the battery expired, being afraid that the battery might be dead when I needed it. Now I am liberated. I can recharge at any time wholly inside in my pocket, and can use any app I like ALL DAY without worry, often returning home with half a charge left! I can use the phone while charging and walking, and when home I can charge the charger while it's charging the phone.
