Product Description

This is a battery pack which uses a 4400mAh battery to power your portable gadgets and charge them at the same time. It can be plugged into the power socket just like a normal power adaptor. This pack would be suitable for for dramatically increasing runtime when away from a power source. We also offer a Solar USB Battery with 35% higher capacity.

How does it work?

Use the USB cable supplied to charge the battery pack from a USB socket as found on computers, iPod/iPhone/iPad chargers, or our mains, car and solar USB chargers. The pack can also be charged from the wall charger supplied with modern smartphones from Blackberry, Samsung, HTC, Nokia and so on. Then when your device is running low on battery, connect it to the battery pack using the cable supplied, push the button to activate the pack and charge it up where ever you are. Your device (including satnavs such as the Garmin Edge) can still be used as normal during charging.

How much battery life will it provide?

It can fully charge a typical smartphone such as an iPhone twice. The pack includes an 18 month performance guarantee. Within 18 months if you feel the battery is no longer holding 80% of the capacity compared to when it was new, you can return it to us for retesting. We will compare it to a new pack and replace yours if it is underperforming.

Which devices does it charge?

Since the pack features USB sockets, it can charge the thousands of devices which charge over USB. Also included is a 24 AWG 100cm cable supplied with three connectors (mini USBmicro USBApple) to extends the range of devices even further, allowing you to power many phones, PDAs, digital cameras, GPS navigators and mp3/video players.

  1. Just what I needed

Posted by Jan on 3rd Nov 2014

Cigarette lighter not working in my car and sat nav battery never lasts the journey. Now I have a back up for any charging needed whilst on the go. It is compact enough to fit in my handbag and is a good quality.

Great unit well put together, oozes quality.

I also use it to power My water dancing speakers.
Last many hours its never let me down.

  3. Good kit but should have the new style iPhone connector as standard

Posted by Mike Cook on 17th Jul 2014

Pleased with the product but disappointed that the new style of iPhone connector (eg for the iPhone 5C) is only available as an optional extra

  4. Good little unit

Posted by Richard on 21st May 2014

Well built, works well and the guarantee is a great idea. Compact size makes it very handy to carry around in case of a flat phone battery.

  5. Problem solved

Posted by John Owen on 12th May 2014

I use various vehicles in my job if a fuse blows or socket not working I can now use my Porta-Pow for Sat-Nav etc.

  6. Great

Just what I needed. No more flat Garmin , camara or phone

  7. Great value/Fast delivery

Posted by Alan G on 29th Apr 2014

Perfect for my needs to support extended use of my satnav on the bike, where I do not have a charging socket.

  8. Perfect for Raspberry Pi

Posted by Gianluca on 6th Apr 2014

I needed a battery to work with my raspberry pi as an emergency power supply. As soon as the main power goes out, this battery kicks in, and the raspi stays on! It also has an impressive capacity, 8 hours of autonomy for my raspberry. I guess that this battery would be great for smartphones too.

  9. Good for a weekend away

Posted by Mike on 1st Apr 2014

I use this power pack to charge my smartphone twice and Garmin Forerunner twice on a recent weekend away. Device is well made and durable.

I had an after-sales question about attaching a device that doesn't draw much current; this question was answered promptly and courteously.

The issue was I cannot top-up my Exposure Trace lights as they demand <50mA and this power pack turns off. That's a small limitation and these lights do charge if they are low as the current demand goes up.

  10. Extra Power for the Garmin VIRB gving up to 10hrs.

Posted by Owen Dawson on 30th Mar 2014

Just tested the 4400mAh (16.3Whr) Lithium-ion battery pack from Portapow on my Garmin VIRB. When using the maximum SanDisk 64GB microSDXC UHS-I (class10) card on the Economy HD setting of 1280×720/30fps (16:9) it gave the standard 2000mAh (7.4Whr) battery 3.25 hr an extra 6.5hrs of charge so you can now get 10 hrs of quality HD video footage. I have my VIRB mounted on the standard Garmin VIRB handlebar mount connected using a standard 40cm USB Micro cable to the Portapow in a Deuter gel bag and there's still room for 5 gel packs.
